It’s the happy place in my life! But the real credit goes to the lgbt community who fought and died for this. But it helps to have a liberal wander into government - not know the rules - and make it happen. A miracle πŸ˜€

Political Thinking with Nick Robinson - The Josh Babarinde One - BBC Sounds How one Lib Dem MP persuaded ministers to change the law within a year of being elected.

Here’s a lovely interview with our new (ish) MP @joshbabarinde.bsky.social who we’re extremely lucky to have

@mrjamesob.bsky.social we can control what we do under our laws - we can’t control the right wing lunatics in the Israeli government.

A very powerful and heartbreaking story. The doubling down and gaslighting was extraordinary. She dismissed her guilt with lies to herself. Poor poor daughter and siblings. An extraordinary story well told and a warning about the level of misinformation that is peddled by inadequate humans

Lady Hale gave an interesting view on the Supreme Court judgement. Essentially that people are misinterpreting it. It’s a post by the Guardian on here somewhere

Live and let live is a pretty good rule to go by. So you’re free to be yourself so long as you don’t harm anyone. Seems a good credo to me!

Elon Musk has gone missing from Twitter (X) in last few days. Despite over 20k followers there I get almost no views as am a vocal critic of said Musk. Good riddance to him. Just a rich bully boy - albeit smart business man.

An orange-to-pink fade background over a picture of people cheering with signs. In bold pink at the top, the text:
29TH MARCH
Today, we celebrate the anniversary of same-sex marriages in England and Wales - a landmark victory for equality and love.

And underneath, in white, the text:

The Liberal Democrats were instrumental in making this a reality, with Lynne Featherstone leading the charge as Equalities Minister to deliver the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act.
Thanks to Lynne, dedicated campaigners and activists, and the Liberal Democrats' commitment to equality, many LGBTQ+ people won the right to marry the person they love. While there is still more to do, this anniversary reminds us of the progress we can achieve when we stand up for equality and inclusion.

Calling Zelensky a β€œDictator” must be where the line is drawn.

It is my sincere hope that the whole political spectrum in the United Kingdom will speak with one voice in opposition to Trump’s lies.

Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves claim to be looking everywhere for opportunities for growth but are ignoring the solution right under their noses.

A new UK-EU Customs Union would turbocharge our economy, tearing down the trade barriers holding British businesses back.

I hate what our media has done to our country - peddling hate, lies and distortion - because hate sells. It used to pride itself on being the fifth estate - exposing misdeeds to the public. Can we ever hope for better?
