Nuclear weapons safety oversight in decline with Trump, Biden inaction The lone independent safety agency overseeing Hanford and other U.S. nuclear weapons sites is at risk of becoming ineffective after two presidents let it lapse.

The US's only independent agency with an eye on nuclear weapons work could soon lose authority to recommend safer work after two presidents neglected to appoint members. Its work in Washington state led to $180M in corporate fraud settlements. @seattletimes.com www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Advice For Getting Through Father's Day From People Who Lost Their Dads Here's how to deal with Father's Day if you're part of the "Sad, No Dad Club."

If you're in the 'Dead Dad Club,' consider this your permission slip to feel whatever you want to feel on Father's Day: Sadness over the loss, joy that he was in your life for however briefly, envy toward friends who still have their dads, even absolutely nothing.

Worth a reshare come this weekend:

'Adolescence' Is A Must-Watch For Parents Of Young Boys. But Here's What It Gets Wrong About Incel Culture. 'Adolescence' became the ninth most-watched Netflix series of all time in three weeks. Is it a teachable tool, though? Let's discuss.

"Adolescence" is a terrifying, almost horror movie-level depiction of how incel culture and online misogyny can warp a child.

I talked to therapists and incel researchers about what it gets right (and wrong) about how young men fall into the manosphere rabbit hole.

What Trump tariffs mean for Amazon, Boeing and WA’s very global economy β€œIt's a double whammy for us,” Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho said of the tariffs targeting Canada, China and Mexico. β€œIt’s going to be really, really harmful.”

Donald Trump believes his trade war will only affect countries abroad, but his overly broad tariffs will hit Washingtonians hard. Slower exports could result in lost jobs, while more expensive imports may spur inflation.

How premature was this? Signs were designed for this site with the expectation that in thousands of years humans will encounter it and need to be aware of the radioactive risks. This is/was a forever facility for this unique mission. This risks crimping nuclear weapon production and dismantlement.

Scatterplot titled β€œEmpirical Evidence of Ideological Targeting in Federal Layoffs: Agencies seen as liberal are significantly more likely to face DOGE layoffs.”
β€’	The x-axis represents Perceived Ideological Leaning of federal agencies, ranging from -2 (Most Liberal) to +2 (Most Conservative), based on survey responses from over 1,500 federal executives.
β€’	The y-axis shows Agency Size (Number of Staff) on a logarithmic scale from 1,000 to 1,000,000.

Each point represents a federal agency:
β€’	Red dots indicate agencies that experienced DOGE layoffs.
β€’	Gray dots indicate agencies with no layoffs.

Key Observations:
β€’	Liberal-leaning agencies (left side of the plot) are disproportionately represented among red dots, indicating higher layoff rates.
	β€’	Notable targeted agencies include:
β€’	HHS (Health & Human Services)
	β€’	EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)
β€’	NIH (National Institutes of Health)
β€’	CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau)
	β€’	Dept. of Education
β€’	USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development)
β€’	The National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE), despite its conservative leaning (+1 on the scale), is an exception among targeted agencies.
β€’	A notable outlier: the Department of Veterans Affairs (moderately conservative) also faced layoffs despite its size.

Takeaway:

The figure visually demonstrates that DOGE layoffs disproportionately targeted liberal-leaning agencies, supporting claims of ideological bias. The pattern reveals that layoffs were not driven by agency size or budget alone but were strongly associated with perceived ideology.

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with β€œefficiency” or β€œcutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. πŸ§΅β¬‡οΈ
