How do I stop working retail and make money doing comics?

It has a smooth and a toothy side, I mark my pads as to which side is up or down as I draw on the smoother side.

I actually use a paper that is "bad" with a dip pen and Pilot Drafting because I like the feathering in the lines and chaos. Also it doesn't go taco-mode when I brush in lots of heavy black.

If you're in the US it's sold by Blick as "Studio Mixed Media" pads and is great for brushes.

Recently found the paper that I *should* be using for all my inked work. Canson Graduate Bristol is damn near perfect when it comes to ink. Also what are you inking with, like bottled ink and dip pen/brush, a fountain pen, or fountain brushes and felt tips?

My comics are made by one person running on a combination of fumes, tea, and dexmethylphenidate.

I am one person making a strip a week.

Comics are not merely "content" they are your soul on a piece of paper.

Jetpens usually has the Asia market stuff when Pilot America doesn't sell it in this market.

I do that style of comics (B&W and low detail) myself, and commend you for your background art.

But I also set off on my project to just get better drawing in nothing but lines, making something legible in only pen is an essential skill and it is my first real comic.

Sometimes I bust out the Pilot G-tec for doing extra fine line stuff.

That's why I said Preppy, it's zero fuss.

Insert ink, use until empty, will stay inked for over 2 years no problem.

Put new cartridge in, repeat.

The Preppy feels like a normal plastic pen! Although if he's a lefty I get it, I live with 2 in my family and thankfully it means they don't use my pens.
