So, Johnson, Farage, Badenoch, the Telegraph… howl about the UK being β€œan irrelevance on the world stage”.
Remind me again who decided to isolate us with a strategically and economically idiotic Brexit, relying on a trade deal with the US to save us from exactly the kind of weakness they now bemoan.

Reform fury as someone else wins
by Our By-election Editor
Tim Shipsink
The losing candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, Matt Goodwhinge, has demanded an immediate re-run of the election on the grounds that he lost
comprehensively to someone else.
"It's totally unfair and rigged,"
said Goodwhinge.
"I shouldn't
be required to sit there and suck it up, just because I lost."
Mr Goodwhine continued, *I can't believe that all those voters I demonised failed to back me.
Especially after I was endorsed by Tommy Robinson and ten million Russian bots on X.
"We have clear evidence of family voting, where people voted in order for me to stop deporting their families."
Mr Badloser concluded. "I'm the victim of colour prejudice.
They didn't vote for me simply because I'm not green."
Reform leader
Mr Farage,
speaking from a sun lounger on a rock near the Chagos Islands said,
"It's a tragedy that the people of Manchester won't see Matt in Westminster, but my constituents don't see me in Clacton either."

PLUMBER DEFEATS
MATT GOODWIN

Beautiful from Private Eye on the massive toddler-tantrum that Matt Goodwin and Reform are having, because they got whooped in Gorton and Denton.

If I was @zackpolanski.bsky.social, I would be pointing out to the BBC that whatever model they use to justify giving Farage & his boot-lickers season tickets for every BBC show under the sun must surely now treat Green Party politicians in exactly the same way. Might even be one for the lawyers...

Newspapers that told their readers austerity, Brexit, Johnson & Truss would be brilliant are attacking the British Prime Minister for not unquestioningly following a lunatic President into an illegal attack. And on social media, he gets attacked from the other 'side' for doing the precise opposite!

Reform are not the Opposition. They have had fewer MPs elected than the Green Party, which had five elected under their banner in this Parliament alone.

STOP. MAINSTREAMING. REFORM.

If the BBC had given them coverage proportional to their actual significance, we would barely know who Farage is.

🚨 "Nigel, you said that you're convinced your candidate, Matt Goodwin, would have won among British born voters"

⚠️ "With your policy that you've announced to restrict voting to British citizens. Are you not worried that that comes across as trying to cut out voters that wouldn't vote for Reform?"

I don’t think a significant number of Reform councillors registered as having a job either.

Reform UK is in big trouble – which means it will fight dirtier than ever The Gorton and Denton results should encourage the government to seriously look at introducing an alternative vote syste

Accusations of cheating and sectarianism show that Reform UK pose a danger to our democracy, even in defeat.

Nigel Farage lied multiple times at his press conference today - including saying no-one who voted Green in Gorton and Denton has a job and he's "certain" Reform won most British born voters in the by-election, based on zero evidence, and yet not a single journalist there pushed back on them

So presumably this Daily Mail campaign against "foreign-born" voters will quickly be applied to their foreign-born star columnist, Boris Johnson, and their own France-based for tax purposes non-dom owner?

Imagine devoting your entire career to selling the idea that the British public hates wokery and is clamouring for radical right wing populism, only to then be defeated in an actual election by the most left wing possible coalition of politicians and activists in the country.

It's got to hurt

My sister in law, who lives in France and needed to come home urgently because her dad is very poorly, got caught by the new rules dictating that dual nationals produce a valid British passport when entering the country. Β£180, thank you very much. What a silly rule.

Thanks Brexit

Political people love to debate who the worst modern PM in modern times was but it's unquestionably Cameron.

10 years ago this week he gambled the prosperity and fragile unity of the UK on a referendum on an issue that most people didn't even understand to placate back benchers and fucked us all.

This should be enough to trigger the investigation of the Bannon / Epstein connections to Brexit and of course emails exist verifying those connections already

The Dublin Agreement was a huge deterrent. People knew if they arrived in UK & had claimed elsewhere, approved or denied, they would immediately be returned. Now that data sharing is no longer an automatic right. The UK lost access to several shared mechanisms when it left the EU
