It's interesting that only NOW things are getting straightened out with other companies. Yakuza getting the subtitle "Like a Dragon" and NOW the series is called Like a Dragon. Resident Evil 7 had the "Biohazard" subtitle, and vice versa in JP.

Now if only Bison / Balrog / Vega could sort it out...

Like... the early Mana series DOES have some cross-over elements with FF at least: the FF mascot at the time Moogle shows up, and i'm sure the names of swords and spells cross over too... the candy-based healing system though... GENIOUS!

Square pulled a bunch of odd brand decisions for international release back in the day, from the FF3 and 6 renumberings to calling the first Mana game FF Adventures.

...Mana games arent even CALLED Mana games in Japan. But trying to sell "Holy Sword" to kids probably wouldn't sound as cool.
