Thatβs a great point, about tool rather than a tactic, it is a option to use at the appropriate moment to tip the scales. A good way of thinking about it.

08.10.2025 14:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Believe it or not, Geoff got ChatGPT to write a 3 Player scenario- not knowing the period very well Iβll have to check and get back to you.
08.10.2025 14:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I agree, it was utter madness, next time I will be more pragmatic and show less Elan.
08.10.2025 13:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes indeed, I really enjoyed the narrative aspect of the game. I was very impetuous, because I was two against one and I had a flank march to deal so I rolled the dice in the hope of negating the Austrian Line.
08.10.2025 13:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, itβs one of my favourite games also, I love the jeopardy of which card will come out first, always a great laugh. All sorts of fun things can happen and it can be filled with character to boot.
08.10.2025 13:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Many thanks Paul. I canβt take any credit, they are all Geoffβs toys.
08.10.2025 13:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Oh thatβs most interesting, I know next to nothing about the Napoleonic Wars, but next time Iβll bring along more skirmishers if I am allowed.
08.10.2025 13:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Youβre very right, I reckon they need to be used in conjunction with canon, mind its a whole other story moving a cannon in Sharp Practice, I seem to always get it stuck in the mud & roll double two.
08.10.2025 13:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah yes it did cross my mind to break them up on two groups line an obstacle and activate them on command flags.
08.10.2025 13:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks Carole, I tried the Pas de Charge, but came up short by a few inches, my Skirmisher where busy on the flank keeping light infantry at bay.

28mm Napoleonic Wargames, Sharp Practice, with sufficient Elan as the Force Morale collapses French Chasseurs Γ Cheval charge the Austrian Grenzers driving them from the woods.
Nevertheless, on the right flank I had a bit more success as my Voltigeurs skirmished back and forth with Grenzers until I could bring my Chasseurs to bare and drive the Austrians off before my Force Morale collapsed. Good old #SharpPractice always supplies a entertaining game.

β¦it didnβt end well for them. The Austrian commander came out first the next round, followed by by some flags for Sharp Practice, visiting more than pIain on the French column. What are people experience of βplaying the period and not the rulesβ when commanding French Columns?

Okay, hereβs my first experience of fighting a Napoleonic game of #SharpPractice. As I understand it the French were famed for attacking in columns, well lets give it a go then, so I simply charged down the road in column hoping to crash into the Austrians before they could unleash their volleysβ¦

27.09.2025 10:08 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I opted for two tanks per base and am very happy with the way they turned out. Additionally, Iβm going to try using larger infantry bases moving to the 60mm x 40mm base from a 30mm x 15mm base size. Not sure what it will add beyond improving the aesthetics of the game.
