π¨ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

I'm finding Hegseth's absolutely deranged speech - everything from word choices to delivery - completely unhinged, as if he's taken the very worst of 80's straight-to-video war movies and thought "No, this sounds authoritative and patriotic".
Is he always like this?
They used to transport the warheads slung in a cargo net underneath Chinooks. Over the bloody house.

If Reform had won, Labour's statement would be that this result is a stark reminder we need to listen and learn from voters who rightly feel betrayed by modern politics.
But the Greens won by a comfortable margin, so it's: these voters are stupid and also sinister and, ugh, Muslims
Casuals. I grew up next door to the AWRE and ROF Burghfield.

Four people crowded around a mirror in a lively, playful pose. The words 'CAPYAC' and 'GREENBELT 27-30 August 2026' are prominent. The scene conveys a sense of fun and camaraderie, with warm lighting and mirrored reflections adding depth.
Man in a blue shirt gazes seriously at the camera in a natural setting. White text reads βJunior Brother,β βGreenbeltβ and β27-30 August 2026.β

My English teacher was old even when I was young, so I don't think she ever saw my 'success'.
Apologies, Miss Tickner, but I still hate Thomas Hardy.
I think about the horses too, and the massive reduction in their numbers as automation increased.
We're the horses. We're going to get turned into glue.
You might have launched into one of two dozen absolutely nailed-on speeches in LotR alone to prove them wrong...
I had a certain type of English teacher who couldn't abide sf or fantasy. Having me in her class must have been torture.
I wrote Bright Morning Star in 2018. It was published in 2019.

I'm absolutely certain that they did notice. The question is how far along the axis of enabling were they situated. At one end is willfully turning a blind eye to obvious criminal behaviour. At the other is assisting in something they know to be a crime.
