microchromosome regions always tend to be mainly located in the nuclear interior, while macrochromosome derived region near the nuclear periphery. That is the chromosome rearrangements are constrained by their ancestral 3D locations in the nucleus

Do selection target the genome region or entire euchromatin or hetrochromatin that is segregated in the nucleus? With 38 amniote chr genomes and their Hi-C data, we show despite dramatic chromosomal reshufflings, ancestral t.co/67kdI9nyqs

The Driving W Hypothesis for Low Within-Population Mitochondrial DNA Diversity and Between-Population Mitochondrial Capture The fields of evolutionary biology, molecular ecology, genetics, and taxonomy have been profoundly influenced by studies of variation in mitochondrial DNA. Hi y'all. In the midst of [gestures all around], I managed to write a thing.

If you work with mitochondrial DNA sequences in groups such as birds, butterflies, or snakes, you might find it interesting.

Feedback welcome.

The difference between doing a project and presenting it. An observation can lead to many avenues of explorations before focus turns to a specific discovery. Presenting it, in a talk / paper, follows inversely, with broad perspectives coming before & after the specific discovery.

Zhu, @zhouqi1982.bsky.social et al. produce a chromosome-level genome assembly of the Amur rat snake (Elaphe schrenckii) using HiFi and Hi-C data (1.69 Gbp; N50 = 215 Mb; 97.4% BUSCO), an important resource for studying snake evolution.
