The writhing mass of a Shoggoth, a monstrous amalgam of horrific parts, occupies an icy corridor—and much of the frame of view. Ectoplasmic flesh bubbles with eyeballs floating to the surface. Some eyeballs are white with human irises while others are green with vertical slashes or blood red with monstrous black slits. Toothy maws groan to the surface while tentacles probe upward to the ceiling. Tendrils slither and curl while the occasional protruding claw snaps.

I was out with my family yesterday, but I didn't forget that 9/1 was the birthday of Edgar Rice Burroughs, creator of Tarzan, John Carter, Pelucidar, and my personal favorite Kaspak. The island debuted in THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT. The film starring Doug McClure was a childhood favorite of mine.

Dariel Quiogue is one of the very best S&S authors out there today. Very much looking forward to this.
