i have recurring dreams about my mom and one of them includes her forgetting to check the mailbox and i have to sort a pile of envelopes. anyway, i had that dream for the first time in ages last night.

i can see the top of my garden gnome’s hat for the first time in ages.

it really is. i try not to get too hung up on comparisons, and look at each speech separately rather than one being better than another. but it’s tough!

as a naturally extremely judgy human, i am surprisingly generous when it comes to youth public speaking. no need to crush spirits on a saturday morning. 😂

they are … they have junior, intermediate and senior levels, and some of the juniors are so wee … i’d guess 10 years up to 21. it’s really impressive.

one of the speakers i judged today, i judged 3 years ago when he was a junior and it was cool to see how he’s improved and grown more comfortable.

i hope it goes well! it was definitely a packed morning … we judged 18 intermediate and seniors, plus juniors and divert! my brain is full!

i’ve been feeling really discombobulated this week, and today felt very grounding.

i looked at the sailgp site out of curiosity. not only do they charge $100s for tickets, get millions in government support, and are owned by the uber rich … they encourage you to make an extra contribution when you buy a ticket to
offset the carbon footprint of travel
to the event.
