No, and another writer than Austen. It’s a book I only got round to in my sixties & I think the critic had a point.

Of which 19thc novel did a contemporary critic write: "It is not without evidence of considerable power but...it is wild, confused, disjointed and improbable, and the people who make up the drama...are savages ruder than those who lived before the days of Homer"?

Took me 4 goes but secured my 1st 100 day streak.

Went to the doctor with a suspicious-looking mole. He said they all look that way and I should have left him in the garden.

Took me five. And I’m so close to my 1st 100 streak.

Almost my only claim to fame is that I was Bruce Dickinson’s History teacher for a short time.

My great grandfather met my great grandmother on one of those steamboats from Leith to the north. She was throwing up over the rail & he went to her assistance. And here I am, 146 years later.

Coming from the spokesperson for Donald Trump that’s a bit rich. And isn’t Leavitt a Roman Catholic?

Commemorated by a statue in Ipswich, in recognition both of his Rugby career & brief service in the RAF in World War Two. He was killed when his Hurricane crashed in 1940.

A great treat at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Murrayfield, this morning. Choir-member and lutenist Chris Miller played works by John Dowland to mark the 400th anniversary of his death.

Announced this morning at the end of our service. The Rector had to pop out in the middle to check on his phone that the embargo had been lifted.

One friend, promoted to Glory some years ago, secured his PhD in Chemistry on the basis of published papers. His lab assistants were his A level students, who were acknowledged & undoubtedly benefited from the experience.

Cambridge used to have (may still have) a route to a PhD of this kind.

Decided in Scotland as regards who leads the membership in Scotland & the Labour MSPs. The leader could (since 2011) be someone other than an MSP but I’m not sure how that would work.

Scottish Labour would be mad to change leader this close to the Holyrood elections in May but were Labour (as current polling suggests) to perform poorly then I think he’d be challenged.
