One friend, promoted to Glory some years ago, secured his PhD in Chemistry on the basis of published papers. His lab assistants were his A level students, who were acknowledged & undoubtedly benefited from the experience.

Cambridge used to have (may still have) a route to a PhD of this kind.

Decided in Scotland as regards who leads the membership in Scotland & the Labour MSPs. The leader could (since 2011) be someone other than an MSP but I’m not sure how that would work.

Scottish Labour would be mad to change leader this close to the Holyrood elections in May but were Labour (as current polling suggests) to perform poorly then I think he’d be challenged.
