Sorry if that's long hahaha, never really spoken so openly about this before. But hopefully that offers a bit more context to why I think passion & career should be kept separate. But it's really down to the person; this is just my own experience.

And tbh it's why I like making VR worlds now. I'm not getting paid for it, it's my creative direction & I do it purely for my own enjoyment. That's what I wish I could regain from making artwork, which for a long time was my full-time job.

I had basically converted passion into $$$ which became my only source of income. So I was only ever forcing it out of myself & doing that for over 5 ish years is very damaging 🤕 Rewired my brain to think art = money & when you reach that point, you've lost what made you start.

That then turned into forming real connections & slowly moving up onto serious projects. That in turn also applied a ridiculous amount of pressure on myself when I had honestly never planned for it, so I pigeonholed myself for years, milking a cow (my brain) that didn't work like that.

I do agree to some extent - To explain my perspective better, I've been doing music art/editing 'professionally' for 8 years & started doing so because it felt necessary. I almost failed my second year of uni while pursuing this thing I had no idea could be anything more than just having fun.
