A really wise and lovely friend once told me, when I was getting made redundant from my job of 15 years, that sometimes things happen which seem like bad things at the time, but turn out to be good things, because of what they lead to. He was so right.

We were talking about him at work yesterday - I think it says a lot about Ozzy that even the ones who really aren't into rock/metal still had great fondness for him as a person, reminiscing about the tv show, and how much they liked him. Non-fans joining the sadness that he's gone was kind of sweet.

It's so so hot, horse is spending the whole heatwave of a day alternating between dust bathing, lonnng shade naps under trees, and drinking buckets of cold water - and honestly it's pretty much the same for me (maybe a few less dust baths)😂

Yeah, wait and see seems to be the only option right now - at some point I can see it ending up with conditions so strict I just won't have accounts any more. I don't use my legal surname online, or in person (haven't for 30 years!), so the day any website 'needs' that ID is the day I stop using it.

Be interesting to see just how much I'm excluded from by not doing this, not that I use it to view adult content on purpose, but just where will it draw the line? Tumblr banned me for artistic 19th century nudes. A friend's blog made me confirm I was 18+ cos she swore a lot about crafts going badly!

I'm working on non-Tiny art for the first time in such a long while. It's been years and over 1000 pictures for the same mini project - it felt likely I'd never tackle a full size drawing again. But one irresistible idea set me off, and I'm amazed by how easy it is to slip back into the swing of it.

I did this all through the tightest lockdown here. When people were only allowed out for essential supplies, or only into the garden, when some didn't even have a garden. I posted flowers daily, for everyone who'd appreciate a bit of something pretty and sunny, for all the spring they were missing.

My favourite place is a huge nature reserve like a national park, it has native horses living wild. They've come to know and trust me, don't mind me being there among the herd, and some of them even count me as a friend now - one likes to lick me, another loves shoulder-scratches. I fit in there☺️

I still go exploring brand new places on my bike or on foot without a phone or internet - it amuses me so much that people think this is some curious weirdness from the past which we couldn't contemplate today, as if not having 24/7 GPS is a bit like living without running water or electric light🤣
