Co-parenting with a difficult ex is hard. When you’re co-parenting with a narcissist, it’s even harder with constant blame, no accountability, and endless drama. Keep it short, document everything, and save your energy for your kids, not the fights.

Co-parenting as friends can work, but only if both parents have moved on, respect each other, and keep clear boundaries. It’s less about hanging out and more about keeping things kind and low-stress for the kids.

It depends on your custody agreement.

If you have joint custody or shared decision-making, they usually need your consent for out-of-province/state or international travel.

Even with sole custody, most agreements require notifying the other parent about travel plans.

Need some words of wisdom to help you co-parent with a toxic ex? Here are some quote to help you through:

Are bad co-parenting toxic or just bitter?

πŸ‹ Brings up old arguments and holds grudges
πŸ‹ Makes passive-aggressive digs
πŸ‹ Is rigid about agreements just to "stick it to you"
πŸ‹ More focused on making you uncomfortable

A bitter co-parent lashes out from unresolved hurt and their behavior often fades.

Why do co-parents sabotage the parenting plan?

πŸ’£ They want to get you in trouble.
πŸ’£ They want to control the situation.

Are you butting heads with your ex over how to raise your child? Frustrated by their parenting decisions?

πŸ’œ Focus on your own parenting skills
πŸ’œ Focus on discipline, not punishment
πŸ’œ Explain your rules to your child

Overall, it's about parenting in your own lane and controlling what you can.

πŸ›οΈ Child Custody πŸ›οΈ

The thing people often get confused with is custody, which isn't about who sees the child and when (that's "parenting time").

And sole custody doesn't mean the other parent loses access to their kid.

It's more about legal decision-making.
