I kinda wish there was something more identifiably unique about the gameplay mechanics. But I am curious to watch this unfold and I think the hopeful optimism I see from those who have played it is welcome and refreshing.

From what I can gather, OG Marathon players liked it for its story. Meanwhile Destiny players can't let go of gear that's been sunset 6 years ago. So in a high stakes pvp game where you will lose loot and progression resets, who is this for? A new audience, I suppose.

Extraction shooters (ES) are pretty niche. Afaik there aren't any set in sci-fi that have garnered the same feverish fandom as Tarkov or Hunt, so there is market space, and I feel like pvpve is more approachable than a straight battle royale, esp to convert Bungie's existing player base. However...

Definitely more keen on the world building and art design than the gameplay, but I'm also fascinated by the competition for live service dominance and whether their bets are enough.
