Legendary Author Dan Simmons Dies From Stroke at Age 77 Dan Simmons, the author best known for the Hyperion Cantos, The Terror, and more award-winning genre fiction titles, died at 77 after suffering a stroke.

Hyperion and the sequels blew me away and passing are always sad but I think Simmons' legacy is more complicated due to his politics. (See: His book Flashback)

...I've not (yet) read these (so BIG salt grain here) but from what I can tell online, these choice tell us that this moment is about how we cannot escape the past, our selves (identities) and our choices. But maybe someone smarter and more well read than I am can offer up something more cogent,.

I've learned so much from talking to authors! Each conversation can be a master class! And I've never had an author or poet who wasn't open, kind, and eager...well, almost never.
