These updates are a step toward making private, decentralised calling a seamless experience.
More refinements are on the wayβstay tuned for continued improvements in the months ahead.
iOS 2.8.7 refined the calling experience even furtherβaddressing connection stability, microphone permissions, and call notifs.
A retry mechanism was introduced to improve message delivery during calls, and a glitch sometimes causing finished calls to reappear was fixed.
iOS 2.8.6 was all about stability.
Several crashes were resolved, including issues that could cause the app to unexpectedly close on the home screen or during database operations. These fixes improve overall performance and reliability across the app.
iOS 2.8.5 focused on making incoming calls more reliable.
Previously, users without CallKit enabled would see calls fail automaticallyβthis is now fixed.
The update also included accessibility improvements and updated translations to enhance usability for a global audience.
πSession iOS saw three minor releases in December, bringing stability improvements, crash fixes, and better call reliability.
If you've been testing calls in beta, you should notice a smoother experience. Hereβs what changed π
Privacy matters now more than ever.
31.01.2025 10:45 β π 13 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0This upgrade is a foundational change that will allow for more intuitive, dynamic, and feature-rich group chat experiences in future updates. Stay tuned for more!
24.01.2025 12:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Groups v2 also sets the stage for exciting new features like:
- Custom group descriptions and display pictures
- Inviting users by ONS or Account ID
- Admin controls, like adding other admins or leaving a group without deleting it
Why is this upgrade important?
Itβs a whole suite of performance and reliability improvements for group chats, include more consistent messaging, better syncing of group settings, and smoother group creation.
Once itβs released, your existing group chats will enter a read-only mode after 2-4 weeks.
Youβll still be able to view past messages, but you wonβt be able to send messages, edit settings, or change group members.
After extensive internal testing, the update is nearing completion and will be available soon.
For now, hereβs what you need to know: after Groups v2 launches, current group chats will no longer be fully functional. Updating will be essential.

There has never been a better time to try the app, or start protecting the conversations you're having with family and friends.
A blogger recently raised concerns about Session's security architecture.
In response, Session Co-Founder Kee Jefferys and Chief Software Architect Jason Rhinelander have addressed these claims in detail, clarifying the authors misconceptions.
