03.10.2025 20:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We promised Queenslanders weβd take real action to protect victims of domestic, family and sexual violence - and thatβs exactly what weβre delivering. Weβre taking real action by β¬οΈ πΉEstablishing Queenslandβs first Sexual Violence peak body through the Queensland Sexual Assault Network, a key recommendation the former Government refused to act on. πΉFast-tracking the Domestic & Family Violence peak body four years earlier than Labor to protect more victims sooner πΉThis comes in addition to our new laws including Police Protection Directions and GPS monitoring for high-risk DFV perpetrators. After a decade of decline under Labor, weβre restoring safety to Queenslanders and holding perpetrators to account.

π§Protecting the environment after a pollution event is one of our highest priorities Today, I met with some of the Cairns team involved in the clean-up of local waterways following yesterdayβs spill in Smiths Creek and Trinity Inlet. My Department is working closely with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Maritime Safety Queensland and other government partners, as well as with Boral, to contain material and restore the environment. β οΈQueenslandβs Environment Department regulates industries and where appropriate holds polluters to account to make sure they meet their environmental obligations and community expectations. π₯Note: the fire at the paint store is completely unrelated but is also being monitored.
