Lastly, you wanna make Japanese friends? Learn Japanese and put yourself out there! Work on your social skills and your personality. In other words, the same advice to make friends in any other country lol

No country is perfect and like every country Japan has a lot of things that need improvement but at the same time it has given me so much more, that I feel that all the effort I put just to move here and thrive here is paying off.

If you have never lived here I don’t blame you for believing misinfo but there are so many people who move here, get into that headspace where they need to be the “perfect foreigner”, stop seeing Japanese people as people and start getting frustrated with the country for no reason

I hate all of the content slop on social media about Japan… people treat Japanese people like aliens who will punish you if you make any mistake on their 10000 social rules… and I’m like “dude if you think you will not have culture shock literally anywhere you’re delusional”
