I'm so heartened to see so many opportunities for public scholarship emerging for professors and librarians at larger conventions - especially needed right now!

I'm so lucky to have built a wonderful little community both in Indy and of academic anime researchers all around the world. I'm lucky to now call colleagues I respect so much my very dear friends!
Here's to another big year of adventures! I am so grateful!
This year I was named a Library Journal "Mover and Shaker" for serving as Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Anime and Manga Studies @animestudies.bsky.social , and Indiana University Indianapolis sent me to HARVARD this week to solidify my leadership skills!

In 2019, I was a panicked graduate student wondering if I'd ever get anywhere at all researching anime.
In 2025, I'm a faculty member on a funded trip to Kyoto about to present my research on anime internationally.
Life is very good, I'm very grateful.
