I know there was a reason… but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was 😂.
To be honest we all ended up waist deep in snow at some point anyway 😆

Just spent the last half hour looking through my hundreds upon hundreds of photos I took on this trip.
After laughing at these photos I can honestly say that one of the main memories of this trip will be quality time spent with some great mates!

From Ryde to Lysvik and Narvik to Helsinki and everywhere in between, it’s been an amazing trip!

Was expecting an old 156 on this one as it’s a Lancaster starter! A nice surprise to see a 195 on this service instead.

A northern train at leeds opened its doors nearly 15 minutes before departure! I’m speechless! Impressed, but speechless!

Arrived into London Stansted Airport late last night… got food at only place open and then just crashed on the very comfy premier inn bed!
Going to catch up on some work emails this morning before I head back north this afternoon!

No real plan today, so we’ve last minute decided to head out and explore a little bit more of Finland.

What a lovely journey that was from Tornio! Slept really well (beers probably helped). Only negative is shower was pretty poor. Coming to the realisation that showers on trains are just poor in general 🤷♂️

Possibly the most random station to board a sleeper train at possible… the middle of a trading estate!
On this sleeper train now for 12 hours all the way to Helsinki. First impressions are very good!

Seeing the Aurora twice in four days is a very surreal experience!

Haparanda is a rather magnificent station! The good thing about not arriving on train is I can come back one day! Maybe when through running to Finland starts!

Our train (or rather minibus) to Haparanda has arrived!
Norrtåg the train operator here have such a bad track record of cancelling services. Today out of 20 planned services they cancelled 14 services due to lack of units!
Side note: Norrtåg translates to Northern Trains 👀

Had a nice few hours this afternoon in Luleå so went for a walk on the frozen river! Very scenic and pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

It is now time to depart Boden. We’ve changed today’s plans due to couple of reasons, but the main one been that all the trains we had planned to use have been cancelled due to rolling stock shortages… sounds familiar 😂.
So we heading to Luleå for an explore!
