I love our custodial staff. I talk to them far more than my colleagues. They have befriended the kids who don’t give a crap about school. They lecture them about throwing garbage on the ground, ask them how their day is going, and work hard as hell.

This one I do take personally. The custodial staff IS staff. I take them as seriously as anyone else who cares for and interacts with kids in a school. They break up fights, befriend kids, clean up after them and make the built environment reflect the school’s values — how kids see themselves.

Strange how so many people who don't trust the government (often for good reason) are oblivious to one of the biggest government lies from both parties in recent history--covering up the ongoing and serious nature of the Covid pandemic.
