Y'all are not ready for how rad this book is going to be! I was obsessed from the minute I opened Eoin's gorgeous pitch, and I've just grown even more and more excited about this book as time has gone on. It's going to be visually stunning and give you so many big feelings. Get hyped!! ✨🧚🖤

There are so many incredible titles on this list, but I’m especially proud of YOUNG HAG by Isabel Greenberg, which I had the total joy of editing. If you haven’t read it, please do! It’s funny, poignant, and just so unique and rad. I’m so glad it exists and is getting this incredible recognition!! ✨

Let’s make books handout for kids, detailing various roles in making books; author, illustrator, editor, designer, marketing/publicity, librarians/booksellers/teachers and finally readers.

Two worksheets, “be a writer” with a writing mad lib, and “be an illustrator” with some drawing prompts.

Two more worksheets, “be an editor” with editorial marks to practice on some editable sentences, and “be a cover designer” with four books needing covers.

Two final handouts: “be a librarian, bookseller or teacher” with six kids and six books to match, and “be a reader” with preferences in genre and types of books to narrow your reading preferences to help find more books to enjoy.

Here is a handout I made for my kid’s class last week, when I went in to talk to them about making books. I Frankensteined together a bunch of art I already had to make it, and filled other stuff in. But it was a big hit, so I’m sharing it here in case you know any kids interested in making books!

Happy #MSWL Day! I only accept agented submissions, but wanted to get into the fun. I'm an editor over at Chronicle Books, and I would love to find more MG novels this year—especially ones that feature queer kiddos with big feelings, are a KNIVES OUT-style mystery, or use horror as metaphor! 🏳️‍🌈🕵️😈

We need to keep talking about how weird it is for people to think they should have a say in reading choices for anyone's kids but their own. You're not in charge of what other people's children eat or wear or when they go to bed. Why on earth would you get to choose what they read?
