I just finished this up in a SmArtSchool mentorship class with Sam Weber. 😊 The assignment was to create an illustration with an original character, and I went with my current D&D character 😅

Experimenting with watercolor and gouache without worrying about the final result

I think the painted version of this drawing turned out okay. 👉👈This was done in watercolors, with graphite, gouache and chalk pastel finishing touches.

Using a rejected client thumbnail to practice more with watercolor 😅 (with some pastel and gouche for touchups).

So, one challenge with printing out sketches onto watercolor paper is controlling how dark to make the lines. If they are too light, I lose track of them beneath my washes. If they are too dark, they stand out too much and can only be tamped down with gouache. 🤔
