Just finished playing God of War (2018) and Fenyx Rising (2020) back to back, and the experience is hilarious. Not only does Fenyx reference God of War quite a few times, it also tells the exact opposite story. The Greek gods are interesting because they are flawed like us, and that is true.

Which is it, Vincke? Does genAI contribute something valuable and meaningful to your creative process, such that people can criticize your product for including it - or do you think it is so frivolous and useless to your development process that nobody should bring its use up as a criticism?

The thing that makes me insane about this and Vincke’s comments is why would you trust AI to make a reference? They’re notoriously bad at doing that and produce banal results! Go buy some art books, they’re great. How is it empowering concept artists to have them not do that?

This! The whole entire POINT of looking at reference is to get a real idea of what something ACTUALLY looks like, so you can stylize and interpret it! Looking at a statistical average spat out by an LLM with god knows what in the dataset is NOT the same as observing reality!
