New housing built by the City of York, designed by Mikhail Riches. Passivhaus terraced homes, built with a timber frame, cellulose insulation. One of 5 schemes around York by the practice - who previously won the Stirling Prize for similar housing in Norwich.

The final part of the visit was to see two more sites in Harpurhey, where 46 more affordable homes are being built to the energy efficient Passivhaus standard, with 28 new homes for social rent. Fantastic to see these new homes nearly complete for local residents to move in.🏡🏗

A major new centre for the humanities officially opens in Oxford University today after a soft launch on Monday. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre on Woodstock Road brings together several departments and libraries, along with a 500-seat concert hall and café open to the public.

A lot of period properties have suspended timber floors. When Will South was carrying out his #retrofit he decided to dig out the whole ground floor and put in a solid floor. He knew it was disruptive but reflecting on it thinks it was one of the best things he did.

The four-storey Humanities building is intended to meet Passivhaus standards for energy efficiency. On the upper floors, the Humanities Library contains 100,000 books. A combined library had been planned for the Radcliffe Observatory site since 2005 but paused after the 2008 financial crash.
