I saw the MOST AMAZING truck. All the best trucks have airbrushed self-portraits on them and this one is no exception. I doubled checked that I wasn't using the wide-angle for the side view--no, she really has that much going on back there. Look how far she exceeds the parking space...

But when I walked by again a few minutes later, it had fully emerged and unfurled its wings. And then it lost its grip on its old carapace and fell on its back. So I helped it up into a tree (their main goal usually seems to be to climb a tree.) I loved the lime green and those transparent wings!

Cicadas, they are so harmless 😂 Slow, clumsy, apparently defenseless, and die if they fall on their back (which they do, frequently.) I saw this one halfway through its molt and thought it had died--it appeared motionless and I wouldn't be surprised if one got caught on its own skin and expired...

Anyway here's some guys on the stiff goldenrod (my favorite of the goldenrods) out front. The ladies are so busy with all these flowers lately 🥰
