Ghost car was right behind, flipped on the lights and stopped the driver for a ticket. I re-routed my walk just so I could walk past and thank the officer! The cyclist coming the other way from me seemed equally pleased at the outcome!

So I was witness to a bonafide miracle today! Crossing 111 ave at 113 st beg light, after waiting my requisite 1-2 minutes and forgoing the jaywalking opportunities across the 6+ lanes, the light finally turned. Inside and outside vehicles stopped, middle driver sped through the red light. #yegbike

I worked on a bid for stabilization of that once upon a time. Truly a disaster led by one of our industry’s less salubrious characters at the end.

With BC’s move to permanent DST, I guess #alberta will be on Saskatchewan time in the summer and BC time in the winter. Kind of don’t even need our own time zone!

Retirement funding or over-leveraged themselves to be landlords. I remember the 80s crash with low oil prices, falling employment, and high interest rates that led people to walk away from some investments. Not pretty, but every investment can go two ways.

If you think #alberta has a big hole in its budget now, wait until (IF) the USA achieves a regime change in Iran and exports are ramped up. Another couple million barrels a day would not help prices at all. We need to pay for our services through our taxes and save royalties for later. #yeg

Generally speaking, downtowns are one of the few municipal areas that more then pay for themselves through taxes. Far flung suburban areas do not, and impose significant physical impacts on more central areas.

In re-doing 124 st a few years back they unearthed - and removed - the old rails under the asphalt. I think the power infrastructure was in the building now housing Irrational Brewery.

Great place to stop going to/from the airport (hurray trip-chaining) but my wife also sometimes rides there from Kingsway area to shop.

Also had trams running down 124 st. Trolley buses were popular on many routes in my younger years (but I do post-date the teams!) Trams on Whyte might be fun!

The “shadow rack” is pretty special!
