Instead of being reduced in power, looked down on or pitied by former friends and sisters, having to beg to get back into the Blues, Show Siuan remained a true, defiant, powerful Amyrlin, Warrior of the Light and daughter of the river.

Now that I have had time to think about it, I think I prefer Siuan's storyline on the show to the books. Book Siuan really only came into her own after being stilled but she was humbled at every turn and I was dreading that happening to Show Siuan

Reminds me of S1 Mat's "The lady does shoot fireballs"

Fourteen screenshots of a few seconds of the battle between Moiraine and Lanfear in Season 3 Episode 8 of The Wheel of Time. In each Moiraine is on the left kneeling in the sand but stands at the very last. Once again, #TheWheelOfTime excels at show don't tell exposition. Balefire takes at least a page to explain in the books, and gets recapped multiple times. But a few seconds of special effects communicates all the audience needs to know.

I love show Nynaeve deeply. And I agree that making her block about the Fear of losing control & identity was so real & relatable. She has been the most relatable character for me since s1.1, & this took her relatability to a whole new level. I love her so much! 💛

An EXCELLENT thread unpacking why Siuan’s gut-wrenching fate in 3x8 doesn’t equate to BYG, no matter how painful it is.

I haven't worked my way to rewatching yet. That ep made me cry more than any ep this season. (I remember crying a lot in s2.) Possibly my 2nd favorite ep this season. Possibly #1. I have to do a full s3 rewatch this week.

Also, by aging them in the show, if they still met as teens in the Tower, they were together about 50 years before Rand was born. They actually had a full life together before the mission started. That comforts me a lot! #Siuaraine 💞

It absolutely 💔! But I love how they set up their relationship as being long, committed, spiritual, & loving in the deepest of ways. I knew they wouldn't be together in this life. Their commitment to the mission wouldn't allow that. But their soulmates for ♾️! 💞

Yes! This is what I am doing. I've enjoyed the wonder & performances presented in the show (and the updating). I've just now started reading the books in earnest to add layers to characters and the worldbuilding.

The Wheel of Time is very good at maximising nuance with little time. This shot of Moiraine only lasts a second - in one out of a thousand futures, she had Siuan's Tairen's tattoos, testifying to a devotion so deep that she left nobility for a life on the river, and loved it.
