It’s possible. But quite a few sports media outlets are making this out to be something nefarious & I’ve seen absolutely nothing to indicate that. I’m in a union, on the executive board& currently on a bargaining committee in active negotiations FWIW.

FYI this is how most bargaining works. It’s extremely rare for the entire membership to have access to all of the data/info requests & def not proposal language. The bargaining committee is tasked with that & then membership votes on a tentative agreement. Theres nothing sus about this.

Agreed. I would be willing to believe that perhaps the union hasn't done a great job educating members & their comms does seem insufficient BUT I do find it hard to believe that someone in an *elected leadership position* wouldn't have a basic understanding.

I'm not faulting any members for expressing concerns but in writing this letter, they had to know there was a chance it would get leaked (if they didn't leak it themselves). Request a meeting, talk it out. Don't write a letter that will actively undermine negotiations. Scab behavior.

From a labor perspective, it absolutely weakens their position. I honestly don't know what to believe because according to this article, over half of the players still support a strike.
