I understand why JD Vance made his big Claremont speech. US conservatives genuinely *don't* believe in the ideals of the nation as laid out in its founding documents, so if that is the criteria for belonging, they don't belong. They need it to be blood & soil because that's the only bar they clear.

Trump has committed many dozens of literal crimes. He could be impeached every day for a year on a different charge. He’s following the playbook for authoritarianism to a tee. And we still get this softened language that’s way too generous.

You know a fun game you can play in these sorts of situations is "okay so if you were going to amend the Constitution specifically to overrule the bad and dumb case, what would you say?"

In this case the answer is "the precise existing text of the Fifteenth Amendment"
