We keep #chickens so we get regular #BioSecurity tips from #DEFRA. The trouble is they are all disastrous for #biodiversity: fence off ponds, disinfect everything, clear moss from roofs to keep wild birds away. #Nature is in terminal decline. Can we afford to be doing this?

But in the article it says "I've never stayed in a YHA hostel and never will," so the entire premise is false. I'm a life member and always use them when I can. I've met some wonderful people. It knocks spots off hotels, which are soulless and isolating. Give it a try.

There's evidence that there may have been a flood in the ancient world. The idea of environmental catastrophe, and the need to create resilience, isn't new. I like that the story isn't about humans preserving themselves alone. It's also about protecting biodiversity.

Thanks for following @rsslmo.bsky.social I try to take a neutral stance on faith (as far as it's possible!) so I can see we may struggle to find common ground. I'm a Church of England clergyman in England, so not at all fundamentalist if that helps. But religion isn't my main focus.

The new testament includes texts that seek to deal with this important question. The idea of a "covenant of grace" extends back to the creation. You are right that Christians need to be gracious in presenting their ideas to others. They ought to know that.

It's notable in the old testament there are limits set on slave ownership, a "7th year" in which slaves are to be set free. This is followed by an admonition not to refuse a slave knowing you'll have to set them free after only a year or two. The Biblical law seeks to make it a way out of poverty.
