that's the one! ive not read her other books so I can't say if it's an improvement, but i would assume so hahah. and would recommend checking out the content warnings for the two thrillers!

for a quick, fun read, When Among Crows by Veronica Roth was a nice YA fantasy read, drawing from Polish folklore with a fun magic system. but not as impactful as the other two recs to me!

my five star reads this year have been Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy (psychological (eco-)thriller that at times reads like a drama, loved the setting, high stakes and mysterious characters) and The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis (occasionally slow but so worth it, psycho thriller as well)
