If they wanted to solve the combat issue they should've done something like give your sword durability or make it where you only die in 2 hits.

Granted the actual combat itself was piss easy because you just had to keep pressing counter but the newer games don't fix that at all they just make it where you mash attack to kill a random farmer.

The older games had boring combat because they encouraged you to not rush into enemies & instead use tools like throwing knives, smoke bombs, poison blade, etc.

Some people complain about combat in pre-Origins Assassin's Creed but ain't Assassin's Creed primarily a stealth centered game anyways?

RE4R has stagger be RNG to discourage the "kneecap, kick, knife" loop of OG but it's pointless because it already discourages that. You get less ammo & gotta rely on crafting, knife has durability & you prob wanna use it for stealth, aggressive enemies, etc.
