The two core problems here are structural:

1. An imperial presidency in which unelected & unconfirmed WH appointees exercise enormous, almost entirely unchecked executive power

2. A Senate confirmation process that is worse than useless & doesn’t screen out wildly unqualified people like Noem

It really is amazing to listen to a guy who faked bone spurs to avoid serving in the military denigrate combat veterans of our allies while also using “we” when referencing the historical sacrifices and bravery of our own soldiers.

every time I read this, I get apocalyptically apoplectic about how clear it is. it is instant. it does not require explicit congressional action to invoke, it instead only requires that to remove.
