There are plenty of Muslims who would be great Mayors of NYC. People are not worried about Mamdani's opposition to Israel, support for Intifada, his positions on jihadist terror, and (at baseline) lack of concern about antisemitisim because he's a Muslim. We're worried about it because of who he's shown himself to be.

megkeene In addition: He has refused to address Jewish concerns about rampant antisemitic violence in the city. He did an interview with Hasan Piker, who has a long record of antisemitism, and has claimed that "America deserved 9/11" and was only willing to walk back that association after enormous pressure. Mamdani's father Mahmood Mamdani has argued-among many troubling things that-suicide bombers should be recognized "as a category of soldier" and that it should be "understood as a feature of modern political violence rather than stigmatized as a mark of barbarism". Zohran Mamdani has in no way distanced himself from his father's work.
