Glade, MS F4 #Tornado – February 28, 1987!

Described as a β€œmonstrous tornado,” it grew to nearly two miles wide as it struck the Glade Community at 60 mph. Homes were swept away. Glade Elementary was destroyed. Six people were killed.

White House–Portland, TN F3 #Tornado – Feb 27, 1956! Part of a three-tornado day, this storm crossed Sumner County with concentrated damage between Portland, Gallatin, & White House. Northeast Pennsylvania EF2 #Tornado – Febr 25, 2017! This EF2 tracked more than 12 miles through Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties with estimated winds near 120 mph. The Feb 21–22, 1971 Mississippi Delta #Tornado Outbreak! Three massive tornadoes and numerous smaller twisters tore across western Mississippi. At least 119 people were killed in Mississippi, with two more deaths in North Carolina. Nearly 1,500 were injured.

Ozark–Marshfield, MO F3 #Tornado – February 20, 1937!

Striking around 4:00 pm, this F3 tracked 32 miles northeast, destroying a dozen homes and two brick schools. Eleven injuries were reported. No fatalities.

Angola, LA F2 #Tornado – February 19, 1954!

An F2 tornado struck Angola, LA β€” the site of the Louisiana State Penitentiary β€” on February 19, 1954.

A dormitory was unroofed, guard towers were damaged, and a trustee guard was killed when his post was destroyed.

Van Wert County, OH F4 Tornado – Feb 18, 1992! Two tornadoes hit OH on this day β€” one rated F0, the other a violent F4 in Van Wert Co. Feb. 12, 1950 in the Ark-La-Tex may not have been one 82-mile F4 β€” but three separate tornadoes.

An F3 from Center, TX into LA killed four. An F4 through Shreveport and Slack AFB killed eight. A separate F2 hit near Mount Holly, AR.

History doesn’t always fit neatly.

Gulf Breeze, FL F3 #Tornado – February 7, 1971!

A waterspout moved ashore near Gulf Breeze during the early morning hours, becoming an F3 tornado.

Half of a 112-unit apartment complex was destroyed. 112 people were injured. There were no fatalities.
