Perhaps the world we're moving towards is one that parallels so many other industries, where the routine stuff is highly automated but quality work still requires a lot of artisans on the fringes.

Speaking as a trainee glider pilot, I'm green with envy at the ability to use orographic lift in such a finely-tuned and efficient way!
Since the lift is right there for any bird to use, I'd guess this behaviour could emerge anywhere rather than being culturally specific.
It is wonderful how long a dog's neck can become when there's food within a certain range of distances.

Note for non-Brits: this is the reaction of the Conservative Party leader here to a by-election where the Greens came out of nowhere and won a safe Labour seat.
Her candidate lost his deposit (got less than 2% of the vote).
She's so far out of her tree the squirrels are sending out search parties.

Have you ever asked anyone from Lebanon about your idea that the British and Lebanese political systems are in any meaningful way equivalent?
Sadly, my wonderful Lebanese colleague isn't here for me to check with her and relay her answer, but I'm sure her expression would be unforgettable.
Okay. It's time. Let's start looking for a job.
Except, ulp, I haven't hunted for a job since before LinkedIn was a thing, and I'm now in a foreign country in my second language.
Does anybody have any competence I can borrow?

"Hubert" is a very promising game demo with a gorgeous German Shepherd protagonist.

Fabulous visuals, game mechanics still need some work but should get there. Everything else hangs on the scriptwriters getting it right. Fingers crossed.
A curse upon your second favourite pair of socks! โ you have just ensured that for the entirety of the remainder of my existence on this nondescript ball of rock I will never again be able to forget the Welsh word for 'dawn'.

For some, I guess, especially the big ideologues? I'd imagine the rank and file are more likely to be true believers. But I can't begin to imagine how you'd measure that empirically.
25.02.2026 22:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My personal intuition is that it is possible to develop a destructive focus on the stimulation brought by porn, but I'd usually expect it to be a symptom of some underlying pathology rather than a disease in its own right.
25.02.2026 20:21 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The "not a thing" argument is that people are very seldom addicted to the porn itself: the damage comes from their own religious or moral concerns over their behaviour. In other words, most of what moralistic dipshits call "porn addiction" is actually a syndrome caused by moralistic dipshits.
