The international community's lack of meaningful action against Israel’s illegal actions has allowed them to continue in this vein. We MUST act now.

119 UK Parliamentarians call for further sanctions on Israel and a total ban on all trade and interaction with illegal Israeli settlements in letter to @yvettecooper-mp.bsky.social
This letter was drafted before the latest military action against Iran.

She was able to point to marginal improvements since the report of the WPSC in 2019 including better communication with carers, however, there were still significant problems including a lack of a plan to address the recommendations made including compensation, monitoring, etc.

She gave us an excellent insight to what she found while collating her review. Fundamentally she believed DWP's culture was 'mixed' with for example stark differences between Labour Ministers and some senior officials.

As Chair of the Work & Pensions Select Committee (WPSC), we held a one-off evidence session on 'Carer's Benefits beyond the Sayce Review'.

The first panel consisted of Liz Sayce who undertook the review in her name on the overpayment of Carer's Allowance.

At a recent community meeting on this one resident told me they were keen to get involved and thought the invitation sounded exciting. This is people-first decision-making with local people deciding where local money is spent. A good start to reducing power inequalities!!

In her response, the Chancellor mentioned the introduction of #PrideinPlace, which in Oldham and Saddleworth means an extra Β£20m over the next 10 years for Alt, Holts and Lees

I was keen to hear how the Chancellor would ensure all dimensions of inequality - income, wealth, power and health - are tackled and that these benefits are felt all across the country and in all communities.

The Chancellor's #SpringStatement today sets out the benefits to their living standards the British public will start to feel this year.

This is the difference having @labouruk.bsky.social in government will be mean to people.

I asked about the discussions he'd had with Arab states and TΓΌrkiye on developing a de-escalation plan.
He confirmed that these had started at the weekend.

At today's statement on the US and Israel's strikes against Iran, the Prime Minister confirmed that the rule of law and having a viable plan were his guiding principles for any involvement of the UK in military action.

This morning I visited Uppermill Cricket Club, where Saddleworth Carers meet twice a month. One of the most frequently-cited issues carers face is feeling isolated and cut off from support, so the group's work - giving carers an opportunity for community - is so vital.

The Education Secretary talked about reducing attainment gaps such as these, but to have the most effective SEND system it needs to be co-produced with young people with SEND and parents as well. People with lived experience must be actively engaged in this.
