She stepped deeper, not to cleanse or bathe, but because her body wanted a witness. Not an audience. Not even comfort. Just something cold and living to hold her shape long enough to believe it was real. There was no shame. Shame had evaporated days ago, or years, depending on how the sky measured time. Her skin was bare. Always had been. The poncho hung somewhere in the trees behind her like a memory folded wrong.

It wasn’t until the next morning, when she saw the crows had come and picked the remains clean, that she felt anything close to consequence. And even then, it didn’t feel like guilt. It felt like precision. Like she had moved something into the world that belonged there now. She understood, quietly, that whatever people meant when they said god—this wasn’t that. That came after. That came with language and regret and someone else’s rules folded into a book too clean to touch. The truth came first. The cut. The body open in the cold. The soft weight of the guts, all tangled and slick and no longer necessary. The truth was in the part that no one wanted to look at. If there was god, it lived under that.

A comic told in prose-poem captions—tender, brutal, strange.

“A shapeshifting wild woman roams a liminal world of ghosts, blood, and memory—her body a site of nature and myth—as she seeks something lost to time, and maybe to herself: the feeling of being fully, painfully, ecstatically alive.”

Kicking off something new with Anas Awad. One of my favorite artists and a friend I’d trust in any creative foxhole.

I often think of that mouse who kept cleaning up some dude’s shed at night.

It’s a constant reminder that I’ll never be that lucky in life.

The question is, do I now make a video where the thumbnail exclaims “YOU’VE BEEN DOING THIS THING WRONG YOUR WHOLE LIFE”

My wife dazzled me with a trick I didn’t think was possible, duel-wielding cotton swabs to clean both ears at the same time. What does it mean if that technique never occurred to me?

Also bought a cheapo sketchbook for studies I’ll never do. Maybe putting it out there will light a fire under my arse.

I’m trying to move away from Moleskine. I found that their standard sketchbooks are great for pencil but terrible for inks. Their watercolour ones just reversed those issues. I NEED SOMETHING FOR BOTH

I went to Cass arts to caress some papers, made a decision there for my newest target but they didn’t have A4 in stock. This is how I spend my weekends apparently
