25.05.2025 23:53 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here are the biggest lessons I learned about money over the years:
1. Live below your means
2. Increase your skills and income while you still have a lot of energy
3. Invest as early and often as possible
However, I shifted my mindset into investing in high value companies, particularly in companies that were part of the S&P 500.
Years later, I grew a sizable account, was able to collect dividends, sell covered calls against shares I collected, and became financially independent.
I made a lot of mistakes investing in the beginning. First, I didnβt know that I actually had to buy assets within my accounts. Second, I lost money from buying things I didnβt understand, like penny stocks. And third, I lost money through risky options trading. I felt like an idiot.
25.05.2025 01:02 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I became very motivated to see my account slowly grow. So to speed up the process, I started doubling down on my tutoring business and stashed as much as I could into my retirement accounts.
25.05.2025 00:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This was when I discovered the world of investing and how ALL wealthy people became wealthy. Naturally, I went into a rabbit hole, learned everything I could about investing in the stock market, and opened my first account.
25.05.2025 00:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I got my job, I was proud of myself. However, it was in my 20s that I started to realize that money was hard to make and keep. Even though my parents taught me to aggressively save my money, I felt that doing this still wouldnβt help me become financially secure in the future.
25.05.2025 00:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Of course, I wanted to make my mom proud. I studied hard, got my CA teaching credentials, masters degree in education, and became a public school math teacher.

Growing up with Taiwanese immigrant parents, I always watched how hard they worked. My mom worked as a waitress and maid, and I remembered going house-to-house with her every day after school.
