Two old toy poodles cuddled up on a comfy blanket on a couch. One’s grey, the other light brown. The light brown one has her paw on the grey one’s belly and is hanging over him like she’s holding him tight.

We found a forever home for Dante! I think Winnie is going to miss him though 🥲

Some of this is a bit further from the venue, but you got a solid list for nearby recs already from someone else :)

Ok, some of my favorites of different types of food:

Antico Pizza Napoletana
Tacos la Villa
Heirloom Market BBQ (texas bbq w/ korean twist)
Arepa Mia (venezuelan)
Star Provisions (bakery - breakfast/brunch)
Canoe (American brunch or dinner, reservations recommended)
Madras Mantra (Indian, veg)

What kind of food/budget? There’s a lot of good restaurants. The Michelin guide recently came to Atlanta as well.

Wildfire Emissary maybe, depending on how red you are. Good against Swords so it sticks around.

We are currently fostering a 13yr old grey toy poodle mix, he’s getting along great with our own two toy poodles. Here he’s featured cuddling up against our old gal Winnie.

ESPN we really don’t need to keep seeing the pain over and over. There’s plenty of exciting action to replay.

Two recent #premodernMTG decks I’ve had some succes with. Basically took the Tireless Tribe deck, yanked out Quiet Speculation and put that in WGU threshold, replaced it with Armadillo Cloak, Sylvan Library and Flesh Reaver.

Premodern is such a fun format!!

To all those that would like to try and are on the fence: there are several decks that you can build on a budget to play with friends, especially if you don't care about the original old border printings. Below, some low to medium budget decks I've built in paper:

Would you play the Remoras in regular Premodern with this experience?

Photo of a nicely laid out Premodern Unchained (one banned card allowed) deck, it’s akin to Deadguy Ale but with Necropotence and some fast artifact mana sources.

Jumped into the #mtgPremodern Unchained event last minute and decided to run back BW Necro with Diamonds. This time also Lotus Petals.

Sharing this quote from “Origins of Totalitarianism” today for no reason at all: Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.

My deck for the last week of #mtgpremodern Spice Paradise. This deck was based on an old Inquest Invasion Block Domain deck that I always kept together as one of my first “real” decks. I updated it with some insight from Kai Budde’s GP London winning deck.

Winnie (l) and Yuki (r) in their natural habitat. You can really see how they evolved to be perfectly camouflaged.

Creature suite is the exact 5 from the OG deck! I played a variant once in Extended, still one of my favorite decks of all time.

A white blue green control deck for the MTG premodern format, all laid out so every card is visible. A single mystic snake in the sideboard stands out with a modern frame, the rest is classic.

This week’s #mtgPremodern deck for Spice Paradise, inspired by an old Grand Prix winning deck. Yes, that’s Hunting Grounds with only 5 creatures main.

My next deck for the #mtgPremodern Spice Paradise event: GB Contamination. Not intended to always be a full lock forever, but long enough that you can get an overwhelming advantage or kill them with Verdant Force/Squirrels.

I do agree this specific deck is playing too few lands for all the Armageddons! And if I were to up the land count I would add more white sources to get closer to the Karsten recommendation.

I feel like no one ever reads this article fully lol. I just had this exact discrepancy come up with someone else, there’s different numbers for lower land counts (from what you linked):

18 for 20 lands according to Karsten, and while I don’t disagree, all I am suggesting is that *exactly* how important curving out is, likely is colored a bit by how important it has been for the last ~20 years. I’ve noticed it is *less* important in Premodern than I initially thought.

15 is enough if you plan to cast them on T3 according to Karsten (with 20 lands). That seems ~close to reasonable. Karsten is often discussed in premodern, so most people have read his article(s). Some just believe that in this lower power format at times the juice is worth the squeeze.
