I was lucky enough to see them 3 times what a band. No one had more energy.

Kidderminster birder, local patch Puxton Marsh. Mostly birding around Wyre Forest district with trips to Norfolk, Dorset and maybe I'll venture abroad again one-day.
I was lucky enough to see them 3 times what a band. No one had more energy.
13.11.2025 22:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Amendment 40 to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill has been voted down.
Had it passed, it would have meant more precious wildlife would have retained existing protections.
Instead, MPs have bought into the false 'nature vs growth' narrative.
I'll take a look, I've been very happy with some second hand optics I've bought previously.
13.11.2025 20:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks. I have to admit though that I'm hoping for something right at the bottom end though.
13.11.2025 20:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm thinking about buying a thermal imager but can't justify the high end models. Does anyone have any recommendations from the bottom end of the market? It will mostly be used to look for Jack Snipe, Woodcock and the like. #BirdingGear

28.10.2025 17:03 β π 53 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0Trimpley reservoir can be an unrewarding place to bird so I was really pleased to find this Whooper Swan this morning. It flew off after about 35 minutes so was only seen on site by one other birder.

Baltic Gull from last night's roost out on Pat's Pool. Such a striking bird & great to see it in (at first) OK light before the gloomy dusk descended. As my friend Chris Gibbins said in a text last night, this one is as good as it gets.

Finished the day at Thornham harbour. Watching and listening to Pink feet going to roost is one of my favourite birding moments. Sound on. #norfolkbirding #ukbirding
12.10.2025 18:32 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Today the Hobby kits have been learning about crows- no protection on hand from the adults as the female is long departed and the male doesn't do child minding except for feeding... happy ending as the grabbed bird got rescued in fine style by its siblings. #UKbirding

07.09.2025 21:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excellent day at Slimbridge yesterday,15 wader species, the pick of which was the Temminck's Stint. My first for a couple of years, it was unfortunately too far away for me to get a photo. Almost as interesting though was this very odd looking Jackdaw. #glosbirds

21.08.2025 19:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I suspect the same Great Black Back that has visited Trimpley for the last few years returned yesterday. The size comparison with the LBBG amazes me every time.

Peru trip off to a brilliant start, with two days in Lima exploring the city and checking out the wildlife. The standout highlight was visiting the Inca Tern colony on Lima pier, incredible birds and real bucket list stuff! 25 lifers so far, plenty quality on offer. Cusco next⦠#Peru #Seabirds

If you plot the sunβs position at the same time every day for a year it makes a figure of eight pattern called an analemma.

26.07.2025 17:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I haven't heard Water Rails at Puxton as much this summer so I was very pleased to see this juvenile this morning. Fairly sure of juvenile Cetti's too. #worcsbirds
26.07.2025 10:06 β π 13 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My husband, Rob, is away visiting his uncle in Herefordshire. They'd just finished watching the Rugby when this beautiful young Sparrow Hawk flew in through the open front door, and into the living room. Rob managed to pick him up and take him outside again... but just look at those eyes! #birds

A fairly quiet walk this morning but his Sedge Warbler was singing his heart out between Kidderminster and Wolverley #birds.
