There's boogeymen at home

The ghouls come out from where they hide
To feast upon your flesh
They want to make you their dead bride
To join them in eternal rest

Blood curdling screams will fill your dreams
And make your hair go white
So lock yourself into your house
At onset of the night

You hear them hoot with glowing eyes
As they perch themselves in trees

Goosebumps creep up and down my arms
A chill is in the air
Something's hiding in the dark
With hissing serpent hair

Werewolves howl is on the wind
It chills me to the bone
Vampires stalk you in the night

And black cats cross your path
Zombies walk at midnight
As they take in a moon bath

Creepy clowns make creepy sounds
As they hide inside storm drains
Beware of boats and where they float
Or else you'll be in pain

Bats go swooping through the air
Owls are on the breeze

Halloween's my favorite holiday
It's spooky everywhere
Pumpkins faces are wearing grins
People give each other scares

Children don their costumes
They're beggars for a day
They like to run amuck, amuck
As with their friends they play

Witches cruise on broomsticks

A family friendly bonfire
For weenies, & for smores

Cuddling up with a good book
As the rain drums the pane
You feel so roasty toasty
A calmness fills your brain

You feel a change hang in the air
It's just around the rivers bend
The chill of winter's very near
When fall is at an end

The squirrels are storing acorns
The birds are storing seeds
The race is on to finish
To make sure they meet their needs

The sneaky fox blends right in
To all that is around
His tail swishes through the woods
And doesn't make a sound

A cottage hidden in the woods
Is the perfect setting for

People don jackets, their hands are stuffed in gloves
I wrap a scarf about my neck, a hat is worn above
I bundle up in tons of layers
This chilly weather's what I love

Up inside the treetops
The animals store their cache
It is a race between them
To see who'll have the bigger stash

For forthcoming slumber deep

Farms are filled with pumpkins
With their curly, creeping vines
It fills my heart with giddy joy
To pick which one is mine

Pumpkin spice it soothes you
Apple cider's sweet
Cocoa warms you to the bones
I love autumnal treats

You hear all different types of sounds
Like the crunching of leaves beneath your boots
Crackling warm fires in the hearth
And the yawning of the roots

They prepare themselves for winter
When they'll take their snowy sleep
The bears are stuffing their faces

It's insane to me that they couldn't see
That our love should have been bespoken
But love was never shown to me

And when they saw their handy work
A smile of satisfaction

And there I was, down on my knees
Beat and badly bruised
And yet their hearts were filled with glee
As they battered and abused

I couldn't understand back then
Just how this could be so
To be hurt by your own kin

Words ringing in my head
From all of their deceiving
At times wishing I were dead

Yet they slept sound as little babes
Each night when they laid down
And got a good nights rest so they
Were ready for next days round

And they found joy in how they were
And saw no wrong in their actions

I've been cut to the bone
By those that claimed they loved me
Yet love was never shown

And it was effortless to them
The things that they would do
It came as swift as breathing
When they would run me through

And I'd be left there bleeding
