There is no grace period for trans residents, and those who drive with their existing, accurate IDs may be subject to fines and other legal consequences.
Notably, there are special elections across various Kansas counties next Tuesday, and without a new ID, trans residents will not be able to vote.
They recently passed Senate Bill 244, recognizing only male and female sexes recorded at birth as legally valid gender markers.
The state issued letters to all trans residents demanding that they forfeit IDs and purchase new with inaccurate, state-recognized gender markers at their own expense.
At UUSC, we know that trans, 2-spirit, and gender expansive people deserve safety, celebration, and dignity. 🏳️⚧️

Haiti has long been treated as a site of labor: exploited, forced, revolutionary.
A nation marked by resistance and survival against systems designed to exhaust it.
And yet rest and wellness have always existed there. Not separate from resistance, but intertwined with it.
“The first time I remember truly experiencing rest, I was waking up to the sound of roosters in Haiti.” 🌤️
Summer mornings felt fuller. Fresh coffee. Conversation before the day began. People still had work and responsibilities, but the rhythm was slower. Intentional.
