There is no grace period for trans residents, and those who drive with their existing, accurate IDs may be subject to fines and other legal consequences.
Notably, there are special elections across various Kansas counties next Tuesday, and without a new ID, trans residents will not be able to vote.

They recently passed Senate Bill 244, recognizing only male and female sexes recorded at birth as legally valid gender markers.
The state issued letters to all trans residents demanding that they forfeit IDs and purchase new with inaccurate, state-recognized gender markers at their own expense.
