An excerpt from a novel I'm writing called A Demon Named Birch. The text reads: Rani leaned back in her chair, tilting her head so that her long black hair dangled behind the back of the stool until it almost brushed the top of the floor. She stared up at the ceiling scowling at a smudge in the paint near the light fixture. “Maybe, I’ll repaint the whole house. I have time now, I suppose.” “Meow!” Answered a pudgy orange short hair. Rani’s gaze slid down to the side, eyeballing her cat, “Do we like mauve, Mr. Pawson?” Mr. Pawson tilted his empty little head and then skittered under the stools sideways, manically chasing a lost twist tie. Rani lifted her head to sip her coffee, “Mauve, it is.”

Really having fun writing today. Enjoy a little excerpt as I get back in the swing of writing my chapters for a novel called A Demon Named Birch. Hopefully, getting Chapter 5 done this week.

As a writer, sometimes you have to let your brain do the thing it wants to do before you can sit down to write. In this case, I wanted to check out some cool new website themes. Now, that that's done I'm sitting down and writing mah little heart out. It was easy to slip back into my novel. Yay!

One of the things I've really been enjoying about living in Greece, is hanging my clothes out to dry. I don't know why that makes me feel good. But there's a certain little glee I get from doing it. You can even still get that warm feeling from the clothes if the sun has been on them all day.

This series is incredibly pretty.

This is our hill. It is super fucking steep at the end... the end bit is where our flat is. First photo is at the bottom of the hill. Second photo is a closer shot of the really steep bit outside our flat. We gets our cardio in, that's for sure.

We saw a bunch of fish poking their little snoots out of the sea today. Little weirdos.

This little town has my heart.

We went to dinner & both got large portions of meat to happily dig in. Two ladies sat next to us singing to Greek songs. It was beautiful. Then the host came over and told us the lady next to us had bought our drinks. Turns out she was one of the people we had helped with the boats. Love this town.

We had a little walk on the beach this morning and saw a few folks trying to pull some boats up on shore. As we approached we asked if we could help. And then all of us worked together and the boats further up the beach. We had fun. Laughing and speaking in English and Greek. It was a good walk.

I played a lot of WoW when it first came out. Made some amazing friends. Did a looot of drunk raiding. It holds great nostalgia for me. I've tried to get back to it a few times since then, just always been too busy. But I fucking LOVE housing elements and WoW with housing is really tempting me back.

Talita knocks on the door to Mel's office. SFX: KNOCK KNOCK Mel: Come in! She enters the room, which is not quite tall enough to stand up inside quadrupedally, sits down on her haunches, and silently closes the door. Mel: …Is something wrong? Talita: Um… It's one of the temps. Mel: Oh no, what happened? Talita: Adam pulled on my antler. Mel relaxes and sits back in their chair, considering her.

Mel: Is that it? Talita is taken aback. Talita: Well he did it, like, maliciously! He was trying to hurt me! Her face begins to bristle in frustration, and she grips her neck, back hunched to keep her head from knocking the ceiling. Talita: And he’s– he’s been– saying really rude things “out of earshot,” misgendering me, not listening to instructions in the field– Mel: I’ll talk to him about it tomorrow. Talita's eyes widen. Talita: No! Don’t– That wouldn’t help.

Talita: I don't think me being his boss is working out. Could you transfer him to internal mechanics? Mel puts a hand on their hip and thinks, expression doubtful. Mel: Well… it’s only about a week until his contract expires. Could you possibly stand waiting that long? We wouldn’t really have the time to retrain him, and your team is already short a member. Talita leans her face against a hand and looks away, dread and exhaustion closing in on her like the ceiling pressing against the back of her head. Talita: I… I guess. Mel: And if you'd rather I have a chat with him, let me know! The connecting tail of their speech bubble passes over Talita's face, as oblivious to her distress as Mel.
