Honestly, that sounds super interesting. I would audit that class. I like to teach costing systems because it think it is such a simple question: What is the true cost of a product?

The Nazis stopped Jewish doctors from practising, so thousands of them left the country (my great grandfather was one of them). So many left that this was a good natural experiment for estimating the causal effect of losing doctors on infant mortality (& thousands died)

Great that there is direct communication between practice and politicians on such an important topic.

I played around with ubuntu a couple of times and while it is also quite easy it feels much more different than windows. Mint is the closest to windows in terms of overall look.

It is almost amusing how distanced this whole event is from European football culture. I mean just ask what a cheap ticket for a regular game in Milan or Dortmund costs compared to the world cup.

Whats wrong with the German system? I mean at least the jumps are quite consistent. 1.0, 1.3, 1,7, 2.0, ... 4.0, 5.0.

while adding "game theory shows..." does not make it right.

I think there is a difference between saying that game theory predicts the following outcomes compared to saying decision A is bad because game theory suggests that decision B will be the necessary end of the story. In other words, only because you describe how a politician should behave

It is amazing how many people do not understand the theory part in game theory. I "love" how often people on social media use game theory as evidence for a desired policy or action.

Screenshot of the article that includes a quote from the professor's explanation to the dean: “I was recommending her for a job I thought she'd like. When you do that--when you actually care about a rec letter--you keep the potential boss's habits in mind,” Gelernter wrote in the email to his colleagues, seemingly referring to Epstein. “This one was obsessed with girls (like every other unmarried billionaire in Manhattan; in fact, like every other heterosex male), and if I hadn't said what I did in that letter ten-odd years ago, he would certainly have called me & asked for a lot more aesthetic detail. (This is how men behave.)”

This is the Yale professor's explanation for why he described the physical attractiveness of a student in an email to Epstein. He explicitly says he regrets nothing about their association.

Again, I'm so happy Yale hired David Brooks to restore trust.
