I just finished a day near Georgenthal and Tambach-Dietharz, Thuringia, Germany where the locals are very proud of the Dimetrodon and other early Permian fossils we've excavated there over the years. They love our fossils, and we love the local bratwurst!

My dirty fingers with dirt under the nails holding a small fossil tooth with a black root just over a wooden table. The tooth is an upper canine (LD 760-115979) of an as-yet unnamed species of Australopithecus from the Ledi-Geraru Site, Afar Region, Ethiopia. This and associated fossils from the site were the first record of Australopithecus from Ledi-Geraru. Photo from the field in 2018; I'd just glued a sliver of enamel back onto the tooth.
Happy to finally see this out! New hominin fossils from the Ledi-Geraru site in the Afar Region, Ethiopia reveal that early Homo lived alongside an as-yet unnamed new species of Australopithecus between 2.78 and 2.63 million years ago. www.nature.com/articles/s41... π§ͺ

Happy fossil Friday! Here - Seymouria sanjuanenesis from the Early Permian Bromacker locality of Germany. Easily the best specimen(s) of this genus ever found. #SocietyofVertebratePaleontology #SVP
