It's Lynchian in one sense but Lynch stories are filled with both darkness and light, and TD2 doesn't really have any levity.

I think had the show put more focus on Velcoro and Bezziredes and shifted Woodrugh and Semyon to secondary characters assisting the two leads it would have been much better.

I think True Detective S2 is one of the most rough-draft shows I've ever seen. I like the characters, I like the plot, I like the mystery. I think they did too much to keep the audience in the dark early on, and so it's not obvious what you're even supposed to want to happen that's a good thing.

I think guys like Platner are given an incredible amount of leeway when the community sees them start to change, but with Platner that growth is extremely recent and it doesn't seem like the process is complete. The US Senate is a lot of power for someone we expect to continue to grow as a person.
