We are fucked up because activists then are either not on social media because they're trying to talk to government, or they're going to social media to try and turn the public into a megaphone to reach the government, and that doesn't work because once the people are the megaphone, you've lost them

I'm not sure it's fair or productive to expect an activist who thinks politicians need to change can be expected to also do the work of journalists. If there's a misunderstanding between government and the public, a journalist explains it to the people but an activist should highlight the problem.

Is that media or messaging? Kamala Harris didn't embrace an anti-war message. It was obvious she was less likely to start a war than Trump, but within "mainstream media" you have journalists who should report the facts, activists who want to change the facts, and pundits who assess the other two.

Perpetrators choose to offend. They choose to abuse. Victims don't choose. Victims are just that—victims. And yet, we punish them instead of perpetrators. We give perpetrators a pathway back. And then we wonder why we live in a rape and abuse culture.

It's perpetrators who people worry about losing everything, even as victims lose everything. People think perpetrators deserve a pathway to redemption—what about victims? What about their lost opportunities? What about their reputations?
