Born in Spain, so I imagine a Spanish passport would be even easier than usual.

Okay, add a non-UConn category. We have those for lots of NCAAW stuff ;).

Have fun whoever's trawling the record-books for the last time South Carolina were down 17+ at halftime.

I know the US doesn't usually worry about this stuff, but if I'm USA Basketball I get her in a senior squad as soon as remotely viable. Scary good, and scarily eligible for too many other basketball-playing countries.

Has Leger-Walker said anything about not playing for New Zealand next week? I haven't been able to find any details. Obviously not great timing-wise, but also not impossible.

Then the set that Duke followed with looked like Lawson was already drawing up plays for a roster with Caitlin Clark on it.

Two consecutive sets from Louisville that got wide open looks. Can't ask for much more than that from the coach drawing them up.

"As we get closer and closer to the WNBA draft..." says an optimistic Rebecca Lobo.

I doubt I ever saw her play at Duke, but it's more a style thing. Big, physical 3. And Currie was pretty reluctant to shoot from outside, too.

You're probably not old enough to see my Monique Currie comparison for her, are you. ;)

Calling timeout to pass on the instruction "Hack someone immediately!" is ludicrous. Even more so when there's a 98% chance that the other team is about to call a timeout anyway!

Feel like we're looking at a good decade at least of MiLaysia Fulwiley doing some great stuff that gets her on lots of highlight clips, and lots of other stuff that drives me nuts.

Another surprise (to me, at least) from the World Cup qualifying squads: Kennedy Burke is now Turkish. Burke's addition to the squad (and the one naturalised player rule) means no Teaira McCowan.

Note for people in the UK: DAZN is showing a bunch of women's NCAA basketball these days. Not every game, and the schedule list is hit-or-miss in giving you any warning, but for example UCLA-Washington is on right now, with at least three more games later tonight. All free, no subscription needed.

Nah, not always been like that, but it has been the case for a while now. I think it's mostly to give them some competitive games in the build up to the tournament, because otherwise you could go a long time with nothing but the occasional friendly.

By the way, big FIBA Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournaments preview podcast coming from us at Her Hoop Stats early next week, just to get you ready for all these games. Obviously we'll discuss the US, but given it's us probably also the backup point guard situation for the Philippines.

Yeah, I probably didn't like it back then either.

USA Basketball said she's going (one of her assistants at Duke, too), so yeah, guess so. Better hope Duke don't get upset on the opening weekend of the NCAAs or it'll definitely get brought up.

I understand that angle, but they have very limited time to build a squad and chemistry for the actual tournament in September. This feels like the ideal time to bring together most of the people you're actually expecting to send. You can audition in the camps.

Boston and Citron out due to injury. Still don't totally get this squad. Stewart is apparently training before it but not going. No mention of Wilson, AT, AGray, McBride, (presume Ionescu still injured) and I'm probably forgetting more.

From everything I hear them say about FloHoops, I think Courtside1891 would probably fit right in ;).

Sadly, I figure I'll be paying 1891 for the privilege of using it again next week.

I would imagine she may well have already had interviews for WNBA jobs. She's probably in the mix when teams start talking to the various assistants. But yeah, just the way she conducts herself, the way she talks, the control she has. She just feels more like a head coach than some of the others.

Roneeka Hodges feels like someone with the experience and confidence to be an actual head coach. Some of the Unrivaled coaches, with all due respect, feel like good assistants who are filling in or getting experience.

One player smacks the other in the face, called for an offensive foul, and the star player who got hit is helped off the floor. In the extended break that follows there's barely any discussion of the collision or the now-missing player, or any replays of the play. Bizarre production choice.

The commentator during this EuroCup Women semifinal second-leg is quite rightly reminding us of the aggregate difference every 30 seconds, but it's wild that it's not part of the on-screen score graphic. ESBVA being up 7 tonight is irrelevant without the context that they lost the first-leg by 13.

Maybe the 50 times he's gotten away with it gave him confidence that the previous time he got caught was the outlier event?

Every now and then Breanna Stewart offers a reminder that even if she never hits another three for the rest of her life, she drops all the way to about the fifth-best player on the planet.

Would've been nice to see a tiny modicum of care about Burrell's health, even if she had to fake it.
